Não faço idéia do que ganham os autores das obras, dos livros eleitos vencedores desta copa de literatura. Não freqüento os debates, não leio as resenhas. Respeito os que por aqui se arriscam a fazer crítica literária de qualidade, como Sérgio Rodrigues e Daniel Piza, e respeito também a tentativa de muitos, incógnitos ou não, de tentar pôr a literatura brasileira sob alguma luz, sob alguma aura de respeito – embora seja mais comum o efeito oposto. Sempre vi essa copa como uma evidência da carência pela qual passa o nosso “mercado”, o nosso nicho cultural. O brasileiro, escritor ou não, quer ganhar prêmios, então ele inventa premiações. Cito:

Estaria eu mentindo se dissesse que não entendo a empolgação das pessoas envolvidas com a copa de literatura. Eu entendo, sim. Dá uma certa sensação de prazer falar e escrever sobre as nossas preferências, fazer os nossos próprios julgamentos. O ponto é que a linha entre crítica/ resenha literária e a mera opinião descompromissada e irresponsável (para não dizer conversa de boteco) às vezes fica meio turva e tudo tende à pasmaceira. Como essa gente que se acha muito politizada conversando sobre política.
Desde que ouvi falar dessa copa que eu acho mó mentira. Se for coisa séria, fico é com vergonha: só porque é Brasil tem que ser uma “copa”. Se for de brincadeira, num tom light, fico calado.
Você não vê a equipe do Booker realizando um “Super Bowl of Literature”, vê? Pois é.

Acho a copa de literatura uma divertida maneira de animar as mesas dos barzinhos frequentados por escritores, pseudo-escritores, puxa-saco-de-escritores. Sempre me pareceu, desde a primeira edição, algo divertido e que não deve ser levado a sério. Como tudo que é bom nessa vida.
nessas horas eu penso: “ah, Deus, eles me entendem”.
esse povo que engole um vocabuláriozinho e ficam se achando os donos das obras são realmente irritantes.
